Literature Text

I am caught in a trap
lashing at my bonds
Struggling and pulling
Thrashing out in vain
Desperate to be free
but I am caged
and my chains are forged of despair

I am dragged to my knees over and over
But I struggle to get back up
Fighting these oppressive shackles
Bravely opposing
And swearing I will have my triumph
I will shake free these chains
and watch them descend without me to weight them down
That I will escape from this torment
And never let anything imprison me again
Vindicated

But slowly
I feel my strength ebbing away
AS it is leeched by the cold metal
Sapping me of my strength
and poisoning my will
My muscles are failing
my body is weakening
my will is fractured
my resistance is shattered
and sounds to my wounded core
Eventually I have no choice
but to surrender
and end my battle with destiny
my final failure

Drag me back down into the dark
This time I promise you
I won't get back up
I surrender
The true meaning of this poem is much more than you think.
